SurfLife Documentary - English version
Our team has discussed the idea of such documentary for quite a long time. All of us are fond of different kind of sports and filming. So as the time passed we gained a lot of experience in filming action events and acquired corresponding equipment.
The best efforts of our team, large store of filming equipment and our inexhaustible enthusiasm provide the highest quality of future documentary. We’ll show our favorite spots like Olenevka, Schelkino (Tatarka), Popovka, Kirillovka etc., as well as people who can’t live without wind, sea, board, sail and kite. The team has already started working out the script and for the moment we can ensure you that there will be a great action, shooting from air and water, spectacular landscapes and interesting characters.
For initiates a kind of rivalry between kite- and windsurfing is not a secret. Mostly it’s expressed in form of irony and making fun of each other. In our documentary we’d like to show general portraits of wind- and kite surfers, as well as people fond of both kinds of sport. We aren’t going to compare them but to share emotions and atmosphere.
Where are we going to film?
We’ll film in the most beautiful parts of Ukraine like western and eastern coast of Crimea, as well as Azov Sea. Moreover there’ll be open discussions in Vkontakte and Facebook where everybody can suggest other locations and share their ideas.
Who are the characters?
Our team is in touch with amateur and professional kite and windsurfers. All of them have different experience and prefer different styles (waveriders, freestylers) but all of these people are united by having great fun of wind and water.
Some eminent and famous persons have already confirmed participation in our project. We remain open for any other suggestions regarding sportsmen that should take part as well (waiting for the ideas in Vkontakte and Facebook).
Also we shouldn’t forget about the soundtrack that will be really cool.
Our team
Thanks Jah (force bringing nice people together) and fortunate coincidence team of HI5 production consists of wind and kite surfers, as well as snowboarders and quad bikers that turn into director, scriptwriter, cameramen, copywriter, musicians, audio producers, motion designers when there’s no wind, no snow, no dirt etc. During the work on our dream project all of us are ready to live on diet prana.

Transport
Transport is very important as filming spots are far away from popular routes and highways. We will be driving Toyota FJ Cruiser and BRP Can-am offroaders. For sea shot BRIG 645 boat will be used. It can be launched from every shore and is quite stable, so we’ll be able to continue filming even on big waves.
Why do we need money?
One of the main expense item is transport i.e. petrol and fuel. Another one deals with hiring contractors that can’t provide any services for free like rent of additional equipment, music licenses, rent of powerful quadrotor that can be used at strong and gusty wind, reliable underwater box, additional batteries and a lot of other stuff. Taking into account the fact that we will be working in a kind of extreme environment, we should not neglect the risk of equipment damage or destruction.
Everything related to filming organization, script, production, shooting and editing itself will be done for free. The project’s uniqueness, quantity of locations and shooting days will directly depend on the final budget. We ask you to take part in our project and to become not only its actual producers but also a character or team member if you will.
Terms
The work has already begun as we look for additional equipment, work out the script and negotiate with contractors. This page will be available during 100 days. The filming starts in May 2014. During the entire season we will catch the wind and look for the new locations. Editing and postproduction is scheduled in November and December 2014, premiere – in December 2014 or January 2015 depending on the quantity of material. Premiere will take place in cinemas all over Ukraine. Then documentary will be available on-line for free.
PS: We’ve been living with this idea for quite a long time and finally we’re ready to start. Reports and information about filming will be available on our profiles in Vkontakte, Facebook and Youtube. We’re open for any ideas and offers.
