OstrivLab info for our international friends

OSTRIV LAB is a space that brings together creative students-architects, designers, engineers and active locals, giving them access to up-to-date equipment and knowledge for the development of the district and Kyiv city.

HOW EVERYTHING STARTED

On the third year of the studying in architectural university, we (Roma and Kos) found out from our friend about parametric modeling, design and production from digital models. He went to study in Germany, but we began to produce small workshops, exhibitions to better understand this topic and inspire others.

We liked these extra-program activities, but their organization required enormous efforts, espacially with the location. We knew about the space in the semi-basement of a hostel at the intersection of Volynska and Martirosyana Street, which was not used, and decided to act!

"OSTRIV" PLATFORM

In 2013 we developed a concept for the space in which the idea of ​​the Lab was from the outset, but due to the large amount of resources required and the lack of funding we started with the arrangement of the event site and the workspace, mainly on our own expenses. The long implementation process gave us time to rethink the objectives of the platform and its format.

Since then, the island team has conducted 8 educational workshops, more than 50 master classes and lectures, 3 computer graphics courses, 3 exhibitions, over 100 film screenings, concerts, theatrical performances, an English club and a sketch group.

Among our residents are Jeremica ceramics, Trembeat recording studio, NGO Garage Gang, Mava parametric jewellery and others. We are open and cooperating with various organizations in Kyiv and other cities.

PUBLIC PROJECT

In October 2016, we decided to submit the Ostriv Lab project for the public competition of participatory budgeting. As a result, our project took 14th place with 1020 votes and a budget of 716 thousand UAH.

We see the OstrivLab as a kind of medium between the students of the architectural university and other universities of engineering, architecture and design, who has the potential and theoretical skills, but have little opportunity for its practical usage, and residents of Solomyansky district, who will become customers and end users of Ostriv Lab products .

2. Type-in the amount of money you want to fund in UAH (e.g. if you want to spend $10 - type-in 250 UAH)

3. Press yellow button ДАЛІ (NEXT).

4. Choose the first payment system from the list - WayForPay

5. Insert the data about your card and press the blue button with the amount of money you want to fund.
