Film "The Man with a Stool" is based on the incredible adventure of traveler, director and producer Leonid Kanter. And now it's time to reveal it to the world.

As far back as in 2004, Leonid came up with a crazy idea which totally changed not only his own life but also fates of many other people who picked up this bold adventure. It is about the game "Take the stool to the ocean", the point of which is to bring 4 stools from the Kyiv kitchen to the shores of the 4 world oceans.

Along with performances, songs, adventures and discoveries, the travelers conveyed the deep meaning of the artistic initiative - to prove both to themselves and the world that dreams come true if you make steps towards them.

STOOLS AND OCEANS

Leonid with a team of adherents organized 4 large-scale creative expeditions to the Atlantic, Indian, Arctic and Pacific oceans. On each bank the monuments of ordinary kitchen stools were installed rising on the rocks as symbols of tireless progress towards the dreams as opposed to leading a meaningless life.

"The Game gives you the feeling of taking yourself gently with two fingers, lifting over everything that used to be your routine and stability, and transferring to the fascinating "proposed circumstances." And then you observe your behavior in those unfamiliar circumstances so that you could find out who you really are," said Leonid Kanter about this project.

 
THE PLOT

Three stools have already been installed as monuments on the banks of the three oceans. The last stool remains and the last ocean – the Pacific ... Each participant has only 33 dollars and 33 cents left in their pockets, together with the passport, visa and the one-way ticket.

The last trip is very special because apart from adults it involved two-year Magdalen - Leonid’s daughter.

The "Stool path" runs to the very edge of the earth, to Cape Horn. Travelers hitchhike through Canada, the United States, Mexico, Panama, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, Argentina, Chile ...

On the other hemisphere they meet people looking for happiness - in churches, meditations, carnivals, songs, hostilities, drunkenness and drugs. They starve, work hard, sleep wherever they can, bathe in the rivers and waterfalls, and all for the sake of their weird dream - to bring a stool to the edge of the earth.

While the adults struggle to survive in a cruel reality, a little girl travels around the world of fairy tales. Courageous Magdalen, in the middle of this bizarre carnival, lives her own life, where there is no fuss, worries and passions. She listens to the fairy tales told by the locals and explores the universe.

Having overcome mind-blowing obstacles, two hundred kilometers from Cape Horn, at the very edge of Tierra del Fuego, the heroes had a second child. They don’t have time to come to the hospital and give birth to girl Patagonia right in the taxi (!). it’s the beginning of a new life.

The game is over and four Ukrainian stools stand on the banks of the four oceans.

The dream is fulfilled and it is time to look for a new one…

GOAL

"The Man with a Stool" will inspire people to take their own lives into their hands, showing that dreams do not require much money, but rather a huge desire and faith in their ability to succeed. The film is rich in strong emotions and boundless love.

"The Man with a Stool" is a unique example of leading a meaningful life. A life full of unconditional love and confidence in yourself and the world. Loving and living every moment as if it was the last – isn’t that real HAPPINESS?

The original author and producer of the stool game and films really knew how to do the impossible. Having come back from the journeys, he created his paradise on earth, "the country of dreams" - artistic village Obyrok, just like a fairy tale. From all over the world, his friends, like-minded people, creators and travelers come here to explore Ukraine and become a little happier.

Leonid Kanter started working on this film together with the team. He dreamt of realizing this movie more than anything else. His numerous developments and visions will form a ground for the film. We will have to finish the movie without him.

On June 4, Leonid Kanter passed away but his faith in accomplishing dreams is alive.

Talented film crew who created films "God's Platoon Volunteers " and "MYTH" transformed the view of the Ukrainian audience of Ukrainian documentary films. As before, the team works on its own initiative and at its own expense. Two years ago, the authors appealed to the Community Fund to support the new film, the charity activists responded actively and soon the world saw "MYTH" – an incredible film about great love.

What is already done

Over 60,000 kilometers traveled and more than 400 hours of unique video footage produced –  through the Gobi desert in Mongolia and the Himalayas, through the Grand Canyon and the Amazon Jungles. "Take the stool to the ocean" book was written to be transformed later into a script for the future film.

So far in the Ukrainian cinema there is no example of high-quality adventure film shaping the Ukrainian audience’s worldview, values and the expansion of knowledge about the world. The same is true for the world’s audience about Ukraine.

Our production crew has a successful experience in promoting documentary films  "MYTH" and "God's Platoon Volunteers " which have had the widest distribution in Ukraine and in the world and have been shown in 25 countries!

What we will do if you support us

• All episodes shot in the trip will be edited and transformed into an exciting and fantastic film filled with passion, adventures, conflicts and love.

• We will add the animation of the Ukrainian studio "Ridni animation".

• The soundtrack will be created by the best «KWA sound production» team that made the sound for movies "Сyborgs", "Myth", "Live Fire", "The One Who Went through the Fire" and so on.

• Music for the film will be written by talented Ukrainian musicians: Eduard Prystupa, Freel, Balaklava Blues project, leaders of bands Dakha Brakha and OY sound system

• We will create a film that will inspire people to create and live a meaningful life!

The film will be released on the screens of Ukrainian cinemas in the autumn of 2018. All benefactors will be able to go to the premiere in the cities of Ukraine and the world.
